Gentlemen & Assassins (band)

Gentlemen & Assassins were a Berlin/New York–based experimental rock project formed around vocalist and guitarist Elyas Khan, multi-instrumentalist Sxip Shirey, and drummer Brian Viglione of The Dresden Dolls. Active mainly between 2010 and 2012, the trio developed a raw, theatrical sound that blended post-punk intensity, cabaret influences, and avant-garde performance energy, often described as chaotic, cinematic, and emotionally charged. Their only album, Mother Says We’re Innocent (2012), captures this volatile mix of styles with songs that move between aggressive rock structures and surreal, storytelling lyricism. The group emerged from a DIY touring ethos and a collaborative scene that included producer Martin Bisi, leaving behind a short but distinctive imprint on the underground experimental music landscape.

Miss Kenichi (artist)

Miss Kenichi is the musical project of Berlin-based artist Katrin Hahner, whose work blends dreamlike folk, cinematic Americana, and experimental songwriting into an intimate and emotionally resonant sound world. Emerging from Germany’s independent music scene, her compositions are marked by haunting vocals, delicate instrumentation, and an atmosphere that feels at once fragile and mythic. Beyond music, Hahner’s multidisciplinary background in visual art, theatre, and performance deeply informs her artistic language, giving her work a strong sense of narrative and visual imagination. Through projects including Miss Kenichi and later Kenichi & The Sun, she has developed a distinctive creative universe that moves fluidly between contemporary folk, avant-garde performance, and poetic sonic experimentation.
